The 5th Annual AERE Summer Conference will be held on June 9 – 11, 2016 in Breckenridge, Colorado. Registration is now open -- early bird registration closes on April 15 midnight PDT. Please register early (click here) since space is limited. The deadline to register is May 9, midnight PDT.
The pre-conference workshop on “Big Data in Environmental and Resource Economics” will be led by Dr. Matthew Harding (Duke University) and Dr. Qing Wu (Senior Economist at Google) on Thursday, June 9th.We are very pleased to announce that the keynote speaker will be Dr. Catherine Wolfram, University of California, Berkeley. Her talk on "Effective Carbon Mitigation Strategies" will take place on Saturday, June 11. Questions should be directed to the organizing committee at: email@example.com.
Request for Proposals for a New Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (JAERE)
The AERE Board has begun the search for a new Editor-in-Chief of JAERE and seeks proposals from individuals interested in assuming that responsibility. Proposals must be received by April 1, 2016 to receive full consideration. Click here for the announcement.
First AERE Outstanding Dissertation Award
The AERE Luncheon and Business Meeting took place on January 4, 2016 during the ASSA meeting in San Francisco. AERE presented its first Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award to Dr. Kailin Kroetz for her 2014 dissertation: The Costs of Restrictions in Tradable Permit Programs. The dissertation abstract will be published in the Journal of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (JAERE), vol. 3, no.1 (March 2016). Click here to nominate for the 2015 award.

Annual Awards and Honors
At the annual AERE Luncheon at the ASSA meeting in San Francisco, AERE presented its first Outstanding Dissertation Award to Dr. Kailin Kroetz.
At the 4th Annual AERE Summer Conference in San Diego, AERE announced several awards and honors. Catherine L. Kling and Don Fullerton were inducted as AERE Fellows, which recognizes outstanding contributions to the advancement of the profession of environmental and resource economics.
The 2014 Publication of Enduring Quality Award was given to John M. Hartwick for the 1977 paper "Intergenerational Equity and the Investing of Rents from Exhaustible Resources," American Economic Review, 67, 5 (1977): 972-974.
The Ralph C. d’Arge and Allen V. Kneese Award for Outstanding Publication in the Journal of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (JAERE) for 2014 was awarded to “Regulating Greenhouse Gases from Coal Powered Plants under the Clean Air Act” by Joshua Linn, Erin Mastrangelo, and Dallas Burtraw (JAEREVolume 1 (1-2): pp. 97-134, 2014).
